Mental Health Ministry

Everyone has to look after their mental health and can have mental health challenges at different times in life. We recognise that some people live with complex mental health and we seek to make AUC community life inclusive.

At worship services, we announce that people are welcome to get up and move about during services (Covid restrictions permitting) and try to ensure there are seats available at end of rows so people do not feel hemmed in. We also provide links (below) and have held training to better understand mental health conditions, how we can support each other and how we can encourage ourselves and each other to look after our mental health.

Mental Health Drop In

AUC hosts a monthly drop-in run by the Chaplains of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. This offers a supportive and safe place for people living with mental health challenges. It takes place on the first Tuesday of each month from 10.30am-12:30pm.

It is an open space for people living with mental health challenges to find support and companionship. There is general conversation and coffee/tea, followed by a 30 minute reflective space for those who wish to stay.
