Our Story

Augustine is a diverse, progressive Christian congregation of the United Reformed Church. Our present building was opened in 1861. Rising up from below George IV Bridge, it embodies a story that began in one of Edinburgh’s most deprived areas, and reflects our roots in the ‘Radical’ Scottish Reformation.

Explore our heritage using the drop-down menu, where you will discover a range of resources developed with the support of the United Reformed Church, Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Environment Scotland.

You can begin by hearing us tell our own story in “The Church on the Bridge”.
