Carbon Literacy Course – Environmental Justice

The course is designed for individuals who want to understand the climate emergency and learn about the actions they can take to address it. Everyone will be impacted by climate change, and everyone is welcome to attend. The course will take place after church on three consecutive Sundays (2, 16, and 23 November 2025) from 12:45 until 3:15 pm.

It will cover the science of climate change and issues of climate justice, as well as the impact on the broader community and local area, and the significant changes we will all need to adapt to as Scotland transitions to a low-carbon future. It will also provide practical actions you can take to reduce emissions and guidance on how to communicate effectively about climate change.

The course is offered by SCCAN (Scottish Communities Climate Action Network), utilising content created by Manchester Metropolitan University, Keep Scotland Beautiful, Climate Action Fife, and The Salisbury Centre. The course is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project, which means that participants can earn an official Carbon Literacy Certificate upon completing the course.
