Our Tribe

Making real God's love

LGBT Christians

In 2009 the Edinburgh Metropolitan Church merged into AUC. For 10 years MCCE had been supporting and affirming LGBTQI Christians in Edinburgh. Now as part of the AUC community we are committed to continuing this ministry in new ways in partnership with MCC internationally. This is a new and emerging ministry, so watch this space.

AUC celebrates that Equal Marriage has begun in Scotland. If you are interested in getting married please contact us. See more: Equal Marriage

Our Tribe

Our Tribe meets at Augustine on the second sunday of each month from 3-5pm of each month. It is an informal gathering and includes such discussions, music, worship & outlings.

The name “Our Tribe” comes from the title of the book about the lives of LGBTQI people of faith, by Rev Elder Nancy Wilson, the Moderator of MCC.

“Our Tribe” is open to anyone who wants to explore sexuality and gender identity and Christian faith issues whether or not you are LGBTQI. Everyone is very welcome and we hope that people who have been part of the AUC community for many years will come along as well, as we learn and journey together. We hope to see you soon.

The Metropolitan Community Church

IMCCn 1968, a year before New York's Stonewall Riots, a series of most unlikely events in Southern California resulted in the birth of the world's first church group with a primary, positive ministry to gays, lesbians, bisexual, and transgender persons.

The first worship service in a Los Angeles suburb in 1968 launched the international movement of Metropolitan Community Churches, which today has grown to 43,000 members and adherents in almost 300 congregations in 22 countries. During the past 36 years, MCC's prophetic witness has forever changed the face of Christianity and helped to fuel the international struggle for LGBTQI rights and equality.

In August 2015 The Eurpoean Network of MCC held a conference near Bath, England which some members of AUC participated in. You can read a report from one AUC / MCC participant, Lewis Reay, here.
