We offer events in house for growth and development and also draw on a range of opportunities available through the Scottish Congregational College, Edinburgh University and the wider Edinburgh community.

Through 2016 AUC’s Spirituality Book Group read the series: The Inclusive Church Resource

There are 6 books in the series: Disability by John Hull; Mental Health by Jean Vanier and John Swinton; Sexuality by Susannah Cornwall; Poverty by Susan Durber; Ethnicity by Michael Jagessar; Gender by Rosemary Lain Priestley.

Designed as resource books for churches, each book has an introduction, theological reflection, stories from lived experience and a practical resource section.


Contextual Bible Study

AUC CBS 2017 Outline

Everyone is welcome to join in this group. No knowledge or experience are required.Contextual Bible Study (CBS) is a clear and simple method of group Bible Study, which inspires good discussion and thoughtful reflection. CBS aims to listen to the stories and wisdom of the Scriptures speaking from within their contexts to ours’, discerning God’s message of salvation for individuals and for social transformation. The method of Contextual Bible Study was developed through the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. For more information contact Fiona (

Exploring Church Membership

For people interested in becoming Full or Associate Members of AUC and for current members who would like to refresh their membership

This afternoon exploration offers opportunities for us to listen to each other, to listen to speakers, to listen to our own experience and reflect on what it means of us to be members of the Body of Christ here today.

The sessions offer opportunities to reflect & explore on what it means for them to be:

A member of Christ’s Church

A member of the URC

A member of AUC

AUC Junior Church 

A weekly program for children and young people exploring the Christian Faith.


Topical Discussion 

Every alternate month after sunday morning worship from about 12.30-2pm, AUC hosts an open discussion meeting to discuss a topical theme such as Equal Marriage, the Right to Die, Trade Justice, Renewable Energy. These meetings are open to all to particpate in.
