Conferences, concerts, workshops, weekly or occasional meetings
Augustine United Church, in Edinburgh City Centre, has large and small rooms available for hire at competitive rates.
Conferences, concerts, workshops, gatherings, occasional and regular meetings: the rooms at AUC are suitable for a variety of different purposes and are all accessible to people with physical disabilities.
As part of all bookings we offer a caretaking service to set the room out with tables and chairs, according to your specification as far as possible; and the use of the Pantry for tea & coffee making facilities.
We also offer additional equipment, including Wi-Fi, data projectors and a PA system in some rooms. Each room is available for rent on a sessional basis, morning, after-noon or evening, or all day - details below.
All rooms are cleaned to a high standard and caretaking support offered to all users.
Please note, we ask new users for a deposit at the time of the booking.
Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is a welcoming space with flexible seating. It is used by our congregation for Sunday worship and during the week it is available for hire as a hall.
Concerts, choirs, performances, presentations, workshops and large meetings will find this an excellent space.
It has a PA system and use of an overhead data projector can be arranged.
Please also let us know if you’d like permission to use the piano (charges apply), electric piano, or organ, as this is by special arrangement.
Please note, the Sanctuary is not available on any Sunday before 4pm, or on Tuesdays.
The gallery can be used to increase the size of an audience - an additional 40 adults, however you would need to provide four stewards for health and safety reasons. The audience may hear or see less from gallery seats.
Library
The Library is ideal for small meetings, workshops and as a break out area for the larger rooms.
It can be used for a small committee meeting, for seminars, job interviews, discussion groups, meditation classes and other activities.
It has easy access to the front entrance and Pantry.
Please note, it is not avaialble on Sunday until 3pm.
Junior Room
The Junior Room is ideal for small meetings, workshops and as a break out area for the larger rooms. The Junior Room is on the lower level with disabled access*.
It can be used for a small committee meeting, for seminars, job interviews, discussion groups, meditation classes and other activities.
The Junior Room is not available until 3pm on Sunday or on Monday evening.
*If you are looking to use the Junior Room, and expect to require disabled access, please let us know at the time of the booking.
Studio
The Studio is set out in a theatre style and is ideal for performances, lectures and large public meetings with disabled access.
The room has a basic PA system and data projecor.
A piano is available by special arrangement.
Please note the Studio is not available on any Sunday until 3pm, Monday evening (except July) or Tuesday evening (except July).
Theatre and other performances can be put on in the Sanctuary or Studio, please discuss licensing arrangements with us.

Sanctuary Piano: it is possible to request use of the piano from its owners and they will charge for use.
Organ (Sanctuary), Studio Piano, Electric Piano (any room) may be made available by special arrangement, please discuss this with us.

Facilities
- The Church Centre is accessible by a portable ramp at our front door. Once inside, there is a lift to access the lower level.
- There is an induction loop in the Sanctuary. Both the Sanctuary and Studio have sound systems for amplification.
- The Pantry offers facilities for making coffee & tea. It is on the main level.
- The Kitchen is a modern and fully fitted kitchen available for hire- a hygiene certificate is required and we charge for its use (£40 per day/ part day). Please speak to us about this.
- Fire safety instructions can be downloaded from this page (see "Related Documents" on the right hand side) and will be available at the venue.
- For Bookings involving young people and children, it is required that organisers have appropriate disclosures for child protection.
- We require hirers to conform to regulations and licensing regarding use and performance of copyright material.
- The Church Centre is non smoking throughout.
- During August we are Venues 152 (Sanctuary & Studio) & 29 (The Vault) of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Enquiries for this should be directed to Paradise Green Promotions.

The Vault, Merchant Street
Paradise Green Promotions run our basement stores in Merchant St as a venue for the Fringe. The Vault will seat an audience of up to 42 and provides an intimate performing space and a cafe bar. Contact Paradise Green Promotions for more information.
