Junior Church

Church for Children

Drawing PencilsAs well as the term time programme, the Junior Church also has various special activities throughout the year. These have included trips to shows during the Festival, visits to the Museum of Scotland, an outing to the fabulous play park in the Meadows, a Christmas Nativity production and a movie party – with popcorn!

If you are visiting AUC with children, we would invite you to stay with your child in the Junior Church until they feel settled and comfortable.

The Junior Church participates in our bi-monthly communion service. Children are invited to take both bread & wine (it is non-alcoholic) and to help with serving the elements.

AUC Junior Church is lead by a team of JC leaders who are supported by a team of crèche workers. All are had a Scottish Criminal Record disclosure and been approved to work with the children by the Church Elders.

Autumn

The Junior Church team have planned an interesting and varied autumn season ahead for our wee (and not so wee) Seedlings. As well as a crèche facility with helpers from the congregation each week (much appreciated!) there is a programme of activities for the school-age children. Creationtide is a current theme for the church as a whole. As part of this, the children have been learning about Noah, through story-telling, ark building and altar making. For the All-Age Harvest service, the children helped make a windmill covered with prayers written by them.

Coming up in the next few weeks are activities such as painting a mural, learning about rainbow colours and prisms, making covenants, building balloon people, candle making, a puppet show, and Advent writing projects . . . please feel free to pop into the junior church room if you want to find out more about what the children have been up to, or to see any of their displayed work. You would be very welcome!
